Big Delta State Historical Park

One of the greatest aspects of coming to an area in Alaska is learning about its tremendous history. At Big Delta State Historical Park you get to take a walk back into time. This site was an important crossroad for travelers, traders, and the military during the early days of the 20th century.

Big Delta State Historical Park is a ten-acre park with 23 RV camping sites in the parking lot development. Facilities include picnic area, toilets, water and a dump station. The park is located 8 miles north of Delta Jct. at Mile 274.5 of the Richardson Highway.

Clearwater State Recreation Site

A beautiful little campground lies tucked beside a crystal clear river that offers great fishing opportunities and a peaceful place to spend the day. Clearwater State Recreation Site has 17 campsites, a boat launch, a picnic area, water and toilets.

Clearwater State Recreation Site is reached by turning onto Clearwater Road at mile 1415 of the Alaska Highway and driving 8-1/2 miles, or by turning onto Jack Warren Road at mile 268 of the Richardson Highway and driving 11 miles.

Delta State Recreation Site

Delta State Recreation Site is a popular campground for those traveling between Tok and Fairbanks. This campground gives visitors a wilderness feel, but keeps them conveniently close to town for events or shopping. There are stores, commercial showers and other services nearby. Delta State Recreation Site has 25 developed campsites, a picnic area, a covered picnic shelter, water and toilets. A city airstrip next to the site allows for fly-in camping.

Delta State Recreation Site is located in Delta Junction at mile 267 of the Richardson Hwy.

Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site

Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site, located on the braided Delta River, is one of the state's most scenic campgrounds with views of some of the tallest peaks of the Alaska Range. There is also a great opportunity here to examine alpine plant life. This secluded wilderness campground is seldom crowded and has 12 campsites, toilets, and water.

Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site is 32 miles south of Delta Junction at mile 238 of the Richardson Highway.

Quartz Lake State Recreation Area/Lost Lake

Quartz Lake State Recreation Area is a 600 acre park which often attracts large crowds due to the variety of recreational opportunities available. The recreation area borders two lakes and has facilities adjacent to the lakes to accommodate these crowds. At Quartz Lake there are 16 campsites in the loop and 87 parking and camping sites in the parking lot development. Facilities also include two boat launches, a handicap accessible fishing dock, picnic sites, a picnic shelter, a swimming area, a beach volleyball court, water, and toilets.

Lost Lake is a favorite spot for those who want to avoid the crowds and enjoy the area's scenery and wildlife. At Lost Lake there are 12 campsites, a handicap accessible fishing dock, a picnic area, water and toilets.

Quartz Lake State Recreation Area is ten miles north of Delta Junction and is reached by a three-mile road at mile 277.8 of the Richardson Hwy.

Note: Be cautious when encountering any wildlife, especially moose and bears. Visitors should keep their distance from all animals. Please do not feed any wildlife. Any animal fed by human could become accustomed to free food and expect constant handouts. In the case of bears, these animals usually need to be put down in order to protect human life.
